Constellation Announces 2013 E2 Energy to Educate Grant Recipients
Funding for student projects focusing on energy science, technology and education
BALTIMORE (Nov. 19, 2013)Constellation today announced the recipients of its 2013 E2 Energy to Educate Grants program for student projects focusing on energy science, technology and education. Constellation awarded $310,000 in funding to 10 projects reaching more than 21,000 students, grades 6 through college
Winning submissions included projects from schools and community organizations in Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Wisconsin. Student projects ranged in scope from conducting classroom energy efficiency audits to hosting solar-powered model car competitions to exploring new ways of reducing power demand in household appliances. "Constellation is proud to support student creativity and innovation through our Energy to Educate program,” said Joseph Nigro, CEO of Constellation. "We congratulate this year’s grant recipients for their efforts in developing hands-on projects that explore energy issues.”
Since its inception in 2010, Constellation’s Energy to Educate grants program has provided nearly $1.5 million in funding for student projects that have enhanced the understanding of energy-related science and technology issues for an estimated 81,000 students. Grant recipients are announced each year during American Education Week.
