Exelon and Constellation Merger FAQs

About the Merger

Is the Constellation/Exelon merger final?

The acquisition of Constellation Energy by Exelon Corporation is complete. Exelon's retail and wholesale business, Exelon Energy is being joined with Constellation Energy's retail and wholesale business. The integration of the two companies' systems, people and processes will continue for the next six to nine months. Constellation and Exelon will continue to update customers and stakeholders regarding the integration progress.

Will Constellation Energy continue to exist?

While Constellation Energy Group, Inc. merged into Exelon Corporation, the Constellation Energy family of retail and wholesale companies will continue to operate as Constellation Energy and be the primary brand behind our competitive retail and wholesale supply business. This means that our customers will continue to receive the same great service, added value, and available electricity, natural gas, load response, solar and energy efficiency solutions that they have come to expect from Constellation.

Will Exelon continue to exist?

Exelon Energy will continue to serve Exelon Energy customers and sell under the Exelon Energy brand until Exelon Energy and Constellation Energy organizations and brands are integrated. Over the next six months, Constellation and Exelon will be working to integrate our systems, people and processes so that both sets of customers continue to receive valuable, seamless service and a great customer experience. Exelon Energy and Constellation Energy sales, marketing and support functions will be working to ensure consistency in offers, pricing and value proposition for all customers.

What is remaining the same?

The competitive retail and wholesale supply businesses are remaining as Constellation Energy. This means that Constellation customers will continue to receive the same great service, added value, and available electricity, natural gas, load response, solar and energy efficiency solutions that they have come to expect from Constellation Energy. Constellation's headquarters will continue to operate out of Baltimore, Maryland.

BGE, ComEd and PECO will continue to remain headquartered in Baltimore, Chicago and Philadelphia, respectively, and remain focused on safety, customer service, reliability and consistent infrastructure investment within their jurisdictions. The utilities will continue to operate independently.

Our contact phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same for the time being and our customers can still manage their accounts and get product information from us online.

What is the timeline for integrating the two companies?

Over the next six months, we will be working to integrate our systems, people and processes so that all customers continue to receive valuable, seamless service and a great customer experience, while opening up new opportunities for our combined customer base. During that time, both the Constellation and Exelon brands will likely be operating independently in the marketplace. However, existing customers of either entity will be able to immediately benefit from the increased scope and resources of the combined company. As additional news relative to the integration becomes available, we will keep our customers, channel and business partners and stakeholders informed.

What is the benefit of Exelon and Constellation joining together as one company?

We are now the leading U.S. competitive energy provider with one of the industry's cleanest and lowest cost power generation fleets and one of the largest retail customer bases in the United States.

As such, we are now uniquely positioned in the industry to advance customer choice and clean energy.

Our combined strengths provide a solid platform for the future and will enable the company to help shape a competitive, clean-energy future for our country while providing choice and energy alternatives for our customers.
