Executive Message

Today's business climate dictates that companies must be able to attract, retain and develop top talent in order to grow the business and sustain success. The situation is no different at Constellation Energy. It is critical that we draw from the diverse pool of qualified candidates and make them a part of an environment that values and leverages different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.

I am personally committed to the success of diversity and inclusion efforts throughout Constellation Energy. It is the right thing to do and it is necessary to ensure the bright future of Constellation Energy. In 2008, I led our diversity council and am proud of the council's foundational work and the initiatives it has championed since its inception.

One of the initiatives I find most exciting is the establishment of business resource groups. Business resource groups are employee-run organizations that are formed around common interests and are open to all employees. These groups provide employees additional opportunities for professional development, community involvement, networking and information sharing. Becoming a member of a business resource group is a great way to further engage in our businesses and the communities we serve.

At Constellation Energy, we value diversity and inclusion and seek to incorporate different perspectives in our daily efforts. It is and continues to be part of our core values. Together, we can show who Constellation Energy is - a company that sees the value in diversity and in creating an inclusive environment for all.

Statement of Belief

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion begins with our belief that each person deserves to be treated with respect and valued as a whole person. By embracing and integrating diversity and inclusion into all aspects of our business, we are making a more valuable company for all of our stakeholders.

 

Diversity Council

Since 2008, we have translated our commitment into action through the efforts of our diversity office and Diversity Council - a cross functional group of leaders led by our Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer. The purpose of the Council is to define objectives and initiatives in alignment with our diversity and inclusion strategy in the following focus areas: talent, leadership, organizational excellence, and marketplace and community. The Diversity Council also provides oversight and advocacy of diversity initiatives and activities while monitoring and communicating achievement against goals. The Council enlists the direct support and involvement of business leaders and employees to execute and champion these initiatives.

 

Business Resource Groups

Our employees have established several networks across the enterprise known as Business Resource Groups. These networks are peer groups whose members have common interests and goals and are recognized by the company as a way to:

  • foster a more inclusive working environment
  • engage employees in the diversity and inclusion initiative

 

The groups sponsor activities related to community service, networking and professional development. Membership is open to all who are interested; however, the groups will target their events and activities to meet the needs of employees in a specific ethnic group, gender or career field.

Constellation Connect Mentoring Program

The Constellation Connect Mentoring Program is another initiative championed by the Diversity Council. After one year of employment with Constellation Energy, employees are eligible to participate in Constellation Connect - a self directed mentoring program designed to assist with locating and connecting mentors who possess the skills that meet the needs of the employee or “mentee”.
