Constellation Employees Compete to Create the Best Classroom Space at Crossroads School
August 6, 2014
BALTIMORE (August 6, 2014) — On August 5,2014, more than 100 Constellation employees teamed up to help the Crossroads School in Harbor East prepare classroom space for the school year. During the school makeover event, five Constellation departments competed to do the best job cleaning and painting classrooms, and a panel of Crossroads students voted for the winning group. This year, Constellation’s retail team took first place with their artistic design of the “Crossroads Promises” on an interior hallway.
Crossroads is a public charter school operated by the Living Classrooms Foundation, which provides hands-on educational opportunities and job training across Washington D.C., Virginia, and Maryland.
“We appreciate Constellation’s support, both through their employees’ participation in our mentoring program and with large-scale volunteer projects like the school makeover competition,” said James Bond, president and CEO of the Living Classrooms Foundation. “This beautification project will improve our learning environment, which will positively impact both teachers and students.”
“Giving back to the communities we serve is a key part of Constellation’s culture,” said Joseph Nigro, CEO of Constellation and board member for the Living Classrooms Foundation. “We are proud of our employees’ long-standing volunteerism and their contributions to support the Crossroads School in providing students with improved classroom space for the new school year.”
Constellation has been a supporter of the Living Classrooms Foundation since 1986.
Since the start of 2014, Constellation employees have donated almost 6,000 hours to community causes. To learn more about Constellation’s volunteer efforts, please visit the community section of the Constellation website.
