The National Hockey League’s Preferred Energy Provider
For the third season, Constellation will be facilitating the use of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and carbon offsets to counterbalance the league’s entire carbon footprint for the 2016-2017 season. As a key outcome of the NHL’s sustainability report, Constellation is serving as the NHL’s Preferred Energy Provider to help advance responsible energy efficiency practices across the League, its Member Clubs, and their arenas. The NHL® has engaged with Constellation to leverage our expertise on energy management strategies and to conduct energy efficiency audits. This groundbreaking partnership marks the first time a sports league has offset an entire season. Through its partnership with Constellation, the NHL® now ranks as the 20th largest user of green power in the U.S., according to the EPA's Green Power Partnership.
In honor of the inaugural Green Sports Day on October 6, 2016, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) celebrated Constellation and the National Hockey League® for their partnership in leading the fight against climate change and for their continued effort to reduce the League’s environmental impact and move toward a healthier planet, in their new fact sheet on tackling climate change through sports.
Constellation is proud to partner with the NHL® to achieve its energy and environmental goals.
