Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, LLC (CENG), is a joint venture between Constellation Energy and EDF Group.
CENG is one of the U.S. premier nuclear power plant owners and operators, demonstrating that nuclear power is reliable, cost-effective and environmentally friendly. CENG's nuclear power strategy balances the present with the future and continuously works to safely improve production at its five operating nuclear units.
Nuclear energy offers many benefits:
- It is our nation's largest source of emissions-free electricity and our second largest source of power.
- The 104 operating U.S. nuclear units supply roughly 20 percent of all electricity produced nationwide.
- It is clean with virtually no emissions, which helps keep the air clean, preserve the Earth's climate, avoid ground-level ozone formation and prevent acid rain.
- It is efficient and cost-effective because of stable fuel prices, high plant performance, modernized plants and renewal of plant licenses
CENG operates five reactors at three power stations - Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Lusby, Md.; R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario, N.Y.; and Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station in Scriba, N.Y.
