Best Buy and Constellation Energy Team Up to Offer Illinois Residents One-Stop Shopping to Enhance Energy Efficiency and Reduce Energy Prices

March 19, 2012

CHICAGO, March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Illinois consumers have a unique opportunity to enhance their energy efficiency and reduce their monthly home electric supply rate by taking advantage of a pilot program pioneered by Best Buy and Constellation Energy at Best Buy's Bucktown, Chicago store.

Constellation Energy, an Exelon company and a longtime energy supplier to thousands of Illinois businesses and more recently residential consumers, has teamed up with Best Buy to make it easier for consumers to conveniently shop for low-cost energy rates while searching for energy-efficient products.

"We're thrilled with the response from Chicagoland residents who have already taken advantage of one-stop shopping to lower their monthly electric supply rate with Constellation and buy energy-efficient products from experienced Best Buy representatives," said Michael Wajsgras, vice president of new business channel development for Constellation.

"This pilot program with Best Buy combines Constellation's trusted brand among Illinois businesses with the growing demand by residential consumers for competitively priced home energy," said Wajsgras.

Interest in shopping for electricity has increased dramatically among Illinois residents since late 2010 when the Illinois Commerce Commission authorized a new billing system that enables competitive suppliers to easily offer residents the benefits of competitive energy market prices.

More than 316,000 Illinois residents have chosen new home electricity suppliers in the past year. Constellation Energy offers Best Buy customers in the Chicago area savings up to 18 percent off ComEd's current rate and up to 22 percent off current rates in the Ameren service territories. Customers who enroll also may be eligible to receive up to a $50 Best Buy gift card, and those who refer a friend may be eligible to receive an additional $25 Constellation Visa® Prepaid Card.

Constellation Energy is a leading competitive supplier of power, natural gas and energy products and services for homes and businesses across the continental United States.
