Villages of Kildeer and Bannockburn Expect to Save 40 Percent Off Current Utility Rate by Choosing Constellation Energy as Energy Supplier
March 26, 2012
KILDEER/BANNOCKBURN, Ill., March 26, 2012 - The villages of Kildeer and Bannockburn today jointly announced they have selected Constellation Energy, an Exelon company and longtime competitive energy provider in Illinois with 1 million residential customers nationwide, to supply the village's residents with electricity at reduced rates.
Bannockburn Village Manager Maria Lasday cited Constellation's competitive price, reputation for product and service innovation and its solid reputation among Illinois businesses, hospitals and schools that have been served by Constellation for more than a decade. Village officials estimated electricity supply rates will be at least 40 percent lower than the current utility rate.
"Constellation is pleased to offer the citizens of Kildeer and Bannockburn the fixed-price certainty and hassle-free low rates on energy that we consistently deliver to all customers," said Bruce Stewart, chief marketing officer for Constellation's retail business. "As a national energy leader with deep roots serving Illinois business customers, we look forward to continuing to invest in Illinois communities by offering a full array of competitive market benefits to the residents and small businesses."
Kildeer and Bannockburn were among the Illinois communities that approved so-called municipal aggregation measures on the March 20 ballot, empowering their local government to leverage the collective buying power of citizens to purchase lower-priced electricity for residential and small business customers in that community.
"Now that the voters have approved our plan we are excited to switch to lower rates and start saving for our residents," said Michael Talbett, Kildeer's administrator.
In the coming weeks, Kildeer and Bannockburn officials, along with Constellation Energy, will provide more details to residents on specific steps to take advantage of reduced home energy rates through the village government aggregation program.
Constellation's retail business serves more 1 million residential and about 100,000 business and public sector customers.
