Constellation Customers Giving Back: Company Announces Community Champions Grant Recipients

December 6, 2013

BALTIMORE (Dec 3, 2013) - Constellation celebrates Giving Tuesday today by announcing the recipient of its Community Champions grants, a program that allows Constellation residential electricity and natural gas supply customers to nominate a local project or cause for grant funding. Nearly $30,000 in funding was awarded to 66 community projects in Maryland, New Jersey, Georgia and Texas. For the complete list of grant recipients, click here.

“We’d like to recognize our customers for their commitment to making a difference,” said Joseph Nigro, CEO of Constellation. “Constellation is proud to help invest in their efforts and improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.”

Constellation customer Elena Penso applied for funding on behalf of the Yes Prep East End School in Houston. The school received a $500 Community Champions grant to start a Little Free Library program.

“Our school serves a low income area in Houston’s East End District, where many students and parents do not have easy access to books,” Penso said. “This grant will help us provide on-site access to engage parents, students and the East End community in reading activities.”

Constellation Community Champions grants are awarded on a quarterly basis. The next deadline for submissions is Feb. 1, 2014.

The 2014 program is open to Constellation customers in Maryland, New Jersey, Georgia and Texas.
