Trumbull County, Ohio, Chooses Constellation to Provide Low-Cost Natural Gas Supply to Residents and Small Businesses
January 15, 2013
BALTIMORE (Jan. 15, 2013) - Constellation, a business unit of Exelon and longtime competitive energy supplier in Ohio, today announced that it has been selected by Trumbull County, Ohio, to provide residents and small businesses with low-cost natural gas supply following a competitive bidding process under the state's natural gas choice, governmental aggregation program.
"Constellation is proud to offer residents and small businesses in Trumbull County price certainty and the hassle-free low rates we offer all customers," said Bruce Stewart, chief marketing officer for Constellation. "As a national energy leader with deep roots in serving Ohio residential as well as commercial, industrial and governmental customers, we look forward to providing natural gas supply to Trumbull County customers and other Ohio governmental aggregation programs that can offer a range of competitive products for residents and small businesses."
Residents and small businesses participating in the Trumbull County natural gas program will pay a low fixed rate $4.46/Mcf for all natural gas supply consumed during the eight-month period from March 2013 through October 2013. After October 2013 and through February 2015, pricing will be determined based upon the county's election to secure a fixed-price rate for this service period.
"We are delighted to secure such a low rate for our residents and small businesses," said Trumbull County Commissioner Frank Fuda. "Constellation's initial fixed rate is lower than any other current, comparable term offer listed on Public Utilities Commission of Ohio comparison charts and will help residents control their natural gas costs."
Constellation will work with Trumbull County officials to notify all eligible customers via letter of the gas supply rate, terms and conditions and their right to opt-out of the program. Residential and small commercial retail customers who choose to opt-out of the aggregation program can do so by notifying Constellation by Jan. 31, 2013. Customers who do not opt-out can leave the program at any time within the 24-month term without penalty.
Customers who are currently served by another supplier should be aware of their obligations under their existing contract before joining the Trumbull County program, as many suppliers charge a penalty for early termination. To participate in the program, residents and small businesses may contact Constellation by calling 1-800-718-1493 or by mailing the reply card sent to their homes or businesses. New customers to the program must be in good standing and cannot be part of Dominion East Ohio's Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP).
