Constellation Names Philadelphia Charities to Receive Donations as Part of 2016 Constellation Senior Players Championship

PHILADELPHIA (May 17, 2016)Constellation announced today the local Philadelphia charities that will receive grants as part of this year’s Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, which will be held June 9-12 at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.  

As championship sponsor, Constellation, through the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, will provide $500,000 in funding to Philadelphia-area non-profit organizations focused in the areas of education, youth development, affordable housing, and health care.

“Constellation and our parent company, Exelon, have a long history of serving Pennsylvania, so we are pleased to be able to help support local organizations here that are making a difference,” said Bruce Stewart, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Constellation. “Giving back to the communities we serve is a key part of Constellation’s culture, and an important part of the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship.” 

Located throughout the greater Philadelphia area, the 2016 charities are:

ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter  provides help for today and hope for tomorrow for ALS patients, their families, and caregivers living in the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.

Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic provides free medical and dental care to low-income, uninsured adults and children in Bucks County. The clinic has had over 50,000 patient visits, serving over 11,000 adults and children.

Back on My Feet combats homelessness through the power of running and community support by providing practical training and employment resources for achieving independence.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health partners with families, schools and communities to help children, adolescents and adults faced with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve happiness and personal fulfillment.

The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia is a youth development organization that provides educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA serves more than 160,000 members and 240,000 individuals a year— regardless of age, income or background— to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation’s health and well-being, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors.

HEADstrong Foundation, has supported more than 12,500 patients and their families since 2007 in an effort to fulfill the vision of its late founder Nicholas Colleluori to improve the quality of life of those affected by cancer.

Philadelphia Outward Bound School instills in its students a desire to serve and helps them gain strength of character and leadership skills through experience-based outdoor leadership programs for youth and adults.

The J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust was created in 1958 by the Golf Association of Philadelphia in honor of Philadelphia’s premier golfer of the era, J. Wood Platt, who was also the scholarship’s co-founder and first contributor, to financially aid deserving caddies in their pursuit of higher education.

The Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS has donated more than $10 million to charity since 1992. It is one of five major championships during the PGA TOUR Champions season.
