Constellation Announces 2017 E2 Energy to Educate Grant Recipients
November 16, 2017
BALTIMORE — Constellation today awarded $410,000 E2 Energy to Educate Grants for projects focusing on energy science, technology and education, as part of Constellation’s and parent company Exelon’s commitment to giving back to the communities where they work and live, and driving greater interest in STEM programs.
The 18 projects that were awarded grants will reach more than 27,000 students, in grade 6 through college.
Student projects include a public electric vehicle charging station, an energy storing water reservoir, a hydrogen energy storage system and a solar-powered computer system that enables access to fresh fruits and vegetables. For the complete list of winning projects from 11 different states, visit E2 Energy to Educate Grants.
"Energy innovation and creativity are essential to what we do every day,” said Joe Nigro, CEO, Constellation. “It’s a privilege to support and celebrate this year’s grant recipients for exhibiting their own innovation and creativity. That level of passion — in areas such as science, math, and technology — will foster the energy leaders of tomorrow.”
Constellation’s focus on community aligns with its parent company, Exelon Corporation, named among the nation’s 50 most community-minded companies by Points of Light. Exelon companies, together with Constellation, contributed more than $46 million to nonprofits in 2016 supporting education, the environment, culture and arts and community development.
Since its inception in 2010, Constellation’s Energy to Educate grants program has provided more than $3 million in funding for 103 student projects that have enhanced the understanding of energy-related science and technology issues. Grant recipients are announced each year during American Education Week.
