Heating Up the Holidays: BGE HOME, Constellation Home Partner with United Way to Deliver “A Gift of Warmth” to Local Families

November 27, 2017

Four families will receive a much-welcomed gift just in time for the holiday season — a new high-efficiency heating system — thanks to the “A Gift of Warmth” program sponsored by BGE HOME, Constellation Home, United Way of Central Maryland, United Way of Frederick County and United Way of Lancaster County. Nominations are being accepted until December 3. To nominate families in need of “A Gift of Warmth” in Maryland or central Pennsylvania, visit bgehome.com/warmth or constellationhome.com/warmth and share their story.

“A warm home is a comfort that many of us simply take for granted,” said Tamla Olivier, president, BGE HOME. “BGE HOME and Constellation Home are proud to join forces with United Way for the third consecutive year to relieve the burden of repair costs and ensure deserving members of our community can have reliable heating through the holidays and beyond.”

Homeowners in BGE HOME’s Maryland and Constellation Home’s Central Pennsylvania service territories are eligible. Winners will be announced in mid-December.

“‘A Gift of Warmth’ is a terrific example of BGE HOME and Constellation Home’s commitment to making a genuine difference in the communities in which they serve,” said Franklyn Baker, CEO, United Way of Central Maryland. “This initiative is firmly in-sync with the United Way’s overall mission, and we’re both grateful and excited to see families in need receive this type of support.”

The heating systems will be donated by Trane and Carrier, and installed by certified BGE HOME and Constellation Home technicians.

BGE HOME will also assist with select heating related calls to the 2-1-1 Maryland United Way Helpline this holiday season. United Way’s 2-1-1 Helpline provides unique community information referral services to people in need of food, shelter, job resources, health care, child care and other vital services. The 2-1-1 Maryland United Way Helpline is one of four 2-1-1 call centers in Maryland, and is available 24/7 in 150 languages. Anyone can dial 2-1-1 for free, confidential help.

“A Gift of Warmth” is representative of Constellation and its parent company Exelon’s commitment to giving back to the communities where they serve. Together with Constellation, Exelon Corporation — named among the nation’s 50 most community-mind companies by Points of Light — contributed more than $46 million to nonprofit organizations in 2016.
