BGE HOME Teams With United Way to Deliver “A Gift Of Warmth” to Local Families

November 12, 2019

BALTIMORE — Three families will receive a much-welcomed gift just in time for the holiday season — a new high-efficiency heating system — thanks to the “A Gift of Warmth” program sponsored by BGE HOME, United Way of Central Maryland, and United Way of Frederick County.

Nominations are being accepted until December 1, 2019. To nominate a family in need of “A Gift of Warmth,” visit and share their story. Homeowners in BGE HOME’s Maryland service territory are eligible. Winning applicants will be announced in mid-December.

“We’re grateful to be teaming with United Way for the fifth consecutive year to help deserving members of our community secure reliable heating through the holidays and beyond,” said Tamla Olivier, president & CEO of BGE HOME. “Programs like these are ingrained in who we are at BGE HOME. Our technicians jump at the opportunity to provide service and install the new systems that help provide a warm home for the recipients.”

BGE HOME, a Constellation company, and United Way have teamed up to install new heating systems for 16 families since the program’s inception in 2015. In that time, BGE HOME technicians have also provided service to a total of 70 households through the United Way’s 2-1-1 help line.

“A Gift of Warmth demonstrates a core value shared by both United Way and BGE HOME. We’re committed to improving lives and communities,” said Franklyn Baker, president and CEO of United Way of Central Maryland. “We’re excited to team up with BGE HOME again this year to help families in need stay safe and warm through the winter months.”

The heating systems will be donated by Trane and Carrier, and installed by certified BGE HOME technicians.

BGE HOME also assists with select heating related calls to the 2-1-1 Maryland United Way Helpline this holiday season. United Way’s 2-1-1 Helpline provides unique community information referral services to people in need of food, shelter, job resources, health care, child care and other vital services. The 2-1-1 Maryland United Way Helpline is one of four 2-1-1 call centers in Maryland, and is available 24/7 in 150 languages. Anyone can dial 2-1-1 for free, confidential help.
