BGE HOME to Deliver "A Gift Of Warmth" to Local Families in Partnership with The United Way
December 15, 2021
BALTIMORE — As part of the Gift of Warmth program, three local families will each receive a new high-efficiency heating system sponsored by BGE HOME, United Way of Central Maryland, and United Way of Frederick County.
Nominations are being accepted now through December 31, 2021. To nominate a family in need of a Gift of Warmth, visit bgehome.com/warmth and share their story. Homeowners in BGE HOME’s Maryland service territory are eligible. Winning applicants will be announced at the end of January.
“For nearly two years, COVID-19 has impacted our communities where we live and work, and now more than ever BGE HOME recognizes the importance of this partnership to help address the needs of our neighbors,” said David Donat, president of BGE HOME. “Our team is grateful to support the Gift of Warmth program, and year after year our technicians find joy in supporting selected families with brand new heating systems.”
BGE HOME, a Constellation company, has come together with the United Way to install new heating systems for 19 families since the program’s inception in 2015. In that time, BGE HOME technicians have also provided service to a total of 73 households through the United Way’s 2-1-1 help line.
“A warm house in the winter is a basic need — but one that many of us take for granted,” said Franklyn Baker, president and CEO of United Way of Central Maryland. “The Gift of Warmth program is a powerful example of United Way’s partnerships that are driving real and lasting change for our neighbors who struggle to pay for life’s basic needs. We are grateful to BGE HOME and our 211 Maryland United Way Helpline for ensuring that local families and individuals will have a safe and warm home this winter.”
BGE HOME also assists with select heating related calls to the 2-1-1 Maryland United Way Helpline this holiday season. United Way’s 2-1-1 Helpline provides unique community information referral services to people in need of food, shelter, job resources, health care, childcare and other vital services. The 2-1-1 Maryland United Way Helpline is one of four 2-1-1 call centers in Maryland, and is available 24/7 in 150 languages. Anyone can dial 2-1-1 for free, confidential help.
