Power outages, while usually temporary, are disruptive — especially on a scorching hot day or in the middle of a freezing winter night — and can leave you wondering, “When will my power be back on?” If you have a power outage in your area, it could be due to an issue with the energy grid like weather or higher-than-normal usage.
You can play an active part in getting your power back by reporting a power outage as soon as it happens. This can help your utility company locate and fix the source of the outage faster!
How do I report a power outage?
As your retail energy supplier, Constellation is responsible for your energy rate and contract term. The utility company, on the other hand, owns and operates the wires that bring electricity into your home or business, including maintaining the lines, poles and meters, which means they are the ones you should contact to report a power outage in your area. Although all utility companies have a customer service line, most utilities have a special number to call to report power outages, as well as a way to report them directly through the utility company’s website. Once you have contacted your utility, some may be able to give you a timeframe of when your power will be restored.
