How Bill Credits Work for Texas Electricity Plans
A bill credit is a monthly dollar amount automatically applied to your electricity bill when your usage meets or exceeds a set kilowatt-hour (kWh) threshold during that billing cycle. If you qualify, the credit is subtracted from your bill. No coupons, no paperwork, nothing extra to do.
How bill credits and advertised rates work
Bill credits apply only when your monthly usage hits the threshold. If you fall below it, the credit simply doesn’t apply that month. There’s no penalty, just no credit.
Every Texas plan includes an Electricity Facts Label (EFL) showing pricing at 500, 1,000, and 2,000 kWh. Reviewing the EFL is the best way to see how a bill credit affects your bill at different usage levels.
